No two pieces are the same
No two carvings come out the same. The carver follows the grain of the wood, so every curve and pattern falls a little differently each time.
Ask at the stall and the carver will tell you how long yours took to make.

Carved by hand
Every carving starts as a block of wood and a knife. It is shaped, sanded and polished by hand, then brought to the market by the people who made it.

Shaped by hand, one piece at a time
Akamba wood carving has been passed down for generations. Animals, bowls and figures are shaped, sanded and polished by hand, then brought to our stalls at The Hub Karen.
